We engaged Matthew Hall of Hall building Services ACT to extend our heritage listed home in Ainslie. We were impressed by Matt’s outstanding communications skills and were kept informed about all aspects of the project, particularly the important ones of time lines and costs. Matt worked with us during the entire design and engineering phase to keep us up to date with costs so there were no hidden surprises. The budget remained fixed price and only varied in accordance with our requests for changes. The project was collaborative from start to finish.

We lived in the house during the renovation so were privy to all of the work and spent much time with each of the trades’ people. The high level of organisation within Hall Building team was excellent.  Matt consciously employed people who were courteous and respectful of living arrangements.  Remarkably, all made an effort to keep the site safe, tidy and comfortable for us and our young children, a factor that was enormously appreciated.
We also witnessed the team’s high standards of work and attention to detail.  We are thrilled with the finish of the novel concrete floor and it is testament to the high standard of workmanship matt demands of himself and his team.  Each of our requests, no matter hoe detailed, were received with Matt’s Trade-mark ‘can-do’ attitude and he offered endless ideas that improved the final outcome.

The finished product has exceeded our expectations and is due to matt’s expertise, knowledge, professionalism and attitude. We would not hesitate in recommending Matt to anyone looking for an accomplished builder and a positive renovation experience.

Matthew Hall, of Hall Building Services, built our townhouses at 104, Dooring Street, Dickson.
We first met Matt two years ago when our architect, David Simons of TT Architecture, convened a meeting to discuss Matt’s tender.  We were pleases to meet Matt and were happy with the outcome of the meeting.  The price was acceptable and, more importantly, we felt that we could work with matt.  Happily, that initial impression was quickly confirmed as we began to work closely with him.
We found Matt to be highly professional, well organized, and very personable. His self-belief was always understated but reassuring.  We appreciated his quite confidence about achieving our vision and his determination to deliver on time.  Nothing was unfixable, unexpected difficulties were promptly dealt with, and close attention was given to detail. His work and that of his tradespeople, was of the highest quality.  And life was so much easier for us because he was readily available to deal with concerns as they arose.

Matt, to our great delight, completed the project ahead of schedule – testament to the vigour, enthusiasm and commitment he took to the project, including the after completion service which, true to form, he conducted with good cheer and no fuss.
That matt also become a good friend says a great deal about his style and personality.
Looking back on it now, we consider ourselves very fortunate to have got Matt to do the work.  It was a long, at times challenging, process and though it all he stood by us with grace, charm and integrity.
We extend to Matt our deep gratitude for all he has done for us, and done so well. We would happily recommend him most highly to others.

Reid Heritage Extension

Re: Reference for Hall Building Services ACT Pty Ltd

We engaged Matthew Hall of Hall Building Services ACT in November 2007 to extend our heritage listed cottage in Reid, ACT.

The planned works involved removing the rear wall of the original house and the construction of a large family room, extensive deck areas, main entrance and internal alterations that were consistent with the heritage requirements of our area.

From our first meeting with Matt we were impressed with his level of knowledge and understanding of the requirements of our project, together with his professionalism and consultative approach to the scheduling the works. This included the need to consider the presence of our 2 year old boy and the related noise and safety implications.

The criteria we used to assess Matt’s performance were his ability to produce a quality outcome that was within the quoted price and building timeline. Matt exceeded our expectations at every level.

It was evident from the outset that Matt inherently cares about the quality and detail of his work and went out of his way on many occasions to ensure that we were happy with the look and feel of the project.

Extending and renovating old structures always presents unforseen challenges and this job was no exception. However, this didn’t seem to faze Matt and his team who took each challenge in their stride and went about problem solving in a methodical and consultative fashion.

Over the length of the project, Matt and his team were always reliable and effectively became part of our family. We were delighted with the work of Matt and his team and the outcome of the project that has significantly enhanced the way that we are able to live in our house.

I have no hesitation in recommending Matt to any prospective client and wish him well in all his future endeavours.
